Manga Review: Dragon Head

I'm a sucker for stories like this. When the first page of a comic book shows something like a derailed train in the underground tunnel, you know I'm hooked. It's like, 'Ok. Let's see what Die Hard Bruce Willis would do to get out of this situation.'

Not that I'm into derailed train fetish or anything like that. But when a story starts from the aftermath of an incident so dire, you know you're in for some serious sh*t. This kind of story does not waste time. It does not spend 30 initial pages trying to slowly usher you into the story.

In Dragon Head, a boy wakes up from a train wreck. You wake up too, & find that you're already IN the story & it's too late to pull out. Look at the art man. This is not a comic book. It is ART.

Imagine being the only sole survivor. Alone in the dark. And everybody's dead.

You want to cry out for your mama. But she ain't gonna be there for you boy. You're so scared that you wanna crap in your pants but you realised that you've already done that.

Dragon Head is about fear itself & about overcoming it. That's why the manga covers look like this.

Holy crap! I think I crapped again.

But soon, our little hero begins to find other survivors like him, although few.

And this one seems to speak in Italian. Wierd.

Nahh. Actually this page was taken from a translated version. heheh.

Look at that. Great Art. Great, great, almighty art.

By now, I think you'd realise that I don't do stuff like Sailor Moon or Doraemon. This is Ah Beng's World. Ah Beng only do manly mangas ok.

Fast facts from Wikkipedia:
